EMOTIONAL REGULATION FOR OVERTHINKING, STRESS AND CLARITY

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head, or unsure what you’re even feeling, you’re not alone.

Many people seek emotional regulation therapy because they:

  • overthink everything

  • feel emotionally reactive or shut down

  • struggle to understand their own emotions

  • have difficulty communicating clearly

I offer therapy in Colorado focused on emotional clarity, regulation, and reducing overwhelm.

Clarity changes everything.

Without emotional clarity, it’s easy to:

  • react quickly instead of responding intentionally

  • avoid difficult conversations

  • feel disconnected from yourself or others

  • stay stuck in patterns that don’t work

Emotional regulation therapy helps you understand what you’re feeling. When you understand what you’re feeling, you can respond differently. And that’s where real change begins.

What we work on in emotion regulation therapy

Understanding your emotions → Moving beyond “stressed” or “fine” into more specific awareness.

Reducing overthinking → Learning how to step out of mental loops and into clearer thinking.

Responding instead of reacting → Building the ability to pause, process, and choose how you respond.

Mindfulness and stress reduction → Developing techniques to modulate stress response.

My approach to emotion regulation therapy

Feeling overwhelmed by intense emotions, stuck in cycles of anxiety, anger, or sadness, or unsure how to respond to your feelings can be exhausting. Emotion Regulation Therapy offers a safe and structured space to understand, manage, and respond to your emotions in ways that are empowering rather than overwhelming. My approach combines Internal Family Systems (IFS), Unified Protocol (UP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you build both insight and practical skills.

We work to explore the different “parts” of you, such as the anxious, angry, or self-critical voices that influence your reactions and help you notice these parts without judgment, understand the roles they play, and develop a compassionate inner leadership that can respond to emotions rather than being controlled by them.

We identify patterns of avoidance, rumination, and overreaction, and practice skills for tolerance, flexibility, and balanced responding. You’ll learn ways to face emotions directly, without feeling flooded or overwhelmed, and gradually build confidence in handling challenging experiences.

We will also clarify what matters most to you and take action even when difficult emotions are present. Through mindfulness, acceptance, and committed action, you’ll learn to make choices aligned with your values instead of being guided solely by fear, guilt, or self-criticism.

In therapy, you’ll not only gain understanding of your emotional world, but also develop practical tools and habits for daily life. You’ll learn to respond to stress, anxiety, anger, or sadness with awareness, clarity, and compassion. Emotion Regulation Therapy is for anyone ready to move from feeling stuck or reactive to living with more emotional balance, self-understanding, and freedom.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that helps you understand and work with the different “parts” of yourself - those inner voices, feelings, and patterns that often conflict or create stress. By recognizing, understanding, and integrating these parts, you can heal past wounds, reduce inner conflict, and develop a stronger sense of self.

It teaches practical skills for identifying, understanding, and changing emotional patterns, helping you respond to challenges more effectively and build long-term resilience.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you increase psychological flexibility by teaching mindfulness, acceptance of difficult emotions, and values-based action.
